Reconstruction of Old Town Hall Tower will begin and will be closed to tourists from April
Reconstruction of the famous Prague astronomical clock will begin. The scaffolding will be covered, and the entrance to the observation deck will be closed off to public and tourists from spring to autumn. The reconstruction will include restoration of the exterior includingrs damaged by visitors and loose stones in the walls, and the addition of new rails that will be higher and safer. It also includes the restoration of the tower chapel that was damaged during the WWII and the repair of leaky roofs. The total reconstruction will cost 48 million crowns and culminate in the first half of next year. During the repairing period, the chiming of the clock will be replaced by laser projection on the scaffold, called video mapping.
